RSL’s Sam Johnson Starts Game On Bench Due To Team Violation

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake striker Sam Johnson will not begin the team’s game against Toronto FC in the starting lineup.
Prior to kickoff for Saturday’s game, head coach Mike Petke announced the lineup change saying that it was a result of Johnson arriving 20 minutes late to a team meeting.
Petke did not specify which day Johnson was late.
No Sam Johnson in the starting XI as he was late to a team meeting this week.
Keys to the game:
– Keep the back 4 straight
– find Kreilach and Rusnak is space
– Baird and bofo need to attack at every opportunity. But also get back and help defensively. #RSL #RSLvTOR— Tom Hackett (@TomCantHackett) May 18, 2019
An offseason acquisition for RSL, Johnson has arguably been the team’s best player at times during the 2019 season. In just six starts, the Liberian national has scored four goals, including the game-winner in last week’s wild win over the Colorado Rapids.
So far this season, RSL is 0-5-0 when allowing the first goal. It’ll be vital to get off to a good start against Toronto with Johnson on the bench to begin the match.
Last season’s MLS Rookie of the Year Corey Baird got the start at striker in Johnson’s place.
The match between RSL and Toronto FC can be streamed live on KSLSports.com or on the KSL TV app.
