SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – NBA free agent Ricky Rubio seems to be moving on from re-signing with the Utah Jazz after comments he made in an interview with a Spanish-language news outlet.

Rubio did state that being a bargaining chip at the trade deadline did change how he viewed the Jazz organization and that completely changed his view if he was a free agent last year.

“All that has affected me, without a doubt. If the question had been asked a year ago, I’d signed with them with my eyes closed,” Rubio said. “Now, from here to July, many things can happen.”

With the writing on the wall, KSL’s Unrivaled decided to pen a pair of breakup letters to Rubio.

First up is, Alex Kirry’s love letter:

Querido Ricky,

I just wanted to see how you’re doing this summer. May has been a really fun month that I’ll always remember with you, hiking up Millcreek Canyon, long walks by the great Salt Lake. Your hair and your beard have gotten super long, its a cute look for you, but I think we’ve also grown, just apart.

I never thought I’d like you this much Ricky, you were a bad shooter when you came to Utah and you gave us glimpses but, I think you and I both know we weren’t really in this thing long term. Its been amazing.

I stood by you during the playoff injuries and the shooting slumps and your sporadic three pointers were just enough to keep the spark in the relationship but, with you going away this summer, I just can’t envision a long distance version of this working.

It’ll be hard seeing you in another team’s jersey but I think i’ll cope. I’m strong. You’ve made me strong. You’ve made me a cat person. But I have some growing up to do and so do you. I want to respect that and give you some time so when we finally waive goodbye, or you’re waved goodbye, just remember, its not personal, its just that I want to win. Take care,

Dear Ricky,

First off I want to let you know that I think you are a great guy. As far as being an elite player, meh. There is a team out there that is going to be so lucky to get you and you deserve to find that team. You will have the female fans drooling over you and the male fans, meh. Well, most of the male fans.

I am sorry to say that I am not the one for you but you will be better because of our time together. As far as your jump shot getting better, meh.

We gave it a really good effort but over time it became clear that we just were not a long term fit. I need a guy like Mike Conelly, Kemba Walker, or Tobias Harris, to really complete me.

It is not just that you are bad but they are better. I hope that we can still be friends and I hope that you are not one of those players that get really good after you leave the team.

In my heart I will always hold a special place for you… meh. In my head, hopefullly over time I get that ringing out of it from the ball doinking of the rim so, so many times.

Anyways, you are the greatest and I wish you the best… meh.
