NEW ORLEANS, La. – After being cut by the New Orleans Saints last week, former Utah linebacker Chase Hansen is back with the team.
Hansen was waived by the Saints on May 10th, but is back to working out in the team’s facility and preparing for training camp in July. According to reports, the move was a “procedural” one and his re-signing with the team was expected.
In his senior year with the Utes, Hansen earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors with 114 tackles, including 22 for loss while leading Utah to an appearance in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Hansen was forced to miss the Holiday Bowl with a back injury which also led to him being unable to participate in Utah’s Pro Day as well as the NFL Combine in advance of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was not selected by any team and signed an undrafted rookie free agent with the Saints upon the conclusion of the draft.
Prior to his days at Utah, Hansen was a star quarterback and all-around athlete at Lone Peak High School, where he earned numerous All-State honors. With Hansen at quarterback, the Knights captured the 2011 Utah 5A State Championship.
