SPANISH FORK, Utah – Needing to win five straight games in two days to claim the 3A state championship, the Grantsville High softball team dug deep and got the job done to claim the title.
Grantsville defeated Manti twice on Saturday, the first game was an 11-1 decision, the second was another beatdown by a score of 12-2 to give the Cowgirls the championship.
The losses on Saturday were the only losses by Manti in the double-elimination tournament.
Congrats to Grantsville High on running the table through the one-loss bracket to dominate @MHS_props in the @MountainAmerica 3A softball championship. Oh, did we mention that's a three-peat for the Cowboys? #MyReasonWhy pic.twitter.com/Cyl9GN342g

The Cowgirls were knocked out of the winner’s bracket by Manti on Friday in a 7-6 narrow loss, and had to fight their way back into the championship series by beating Union, Grand County and North Sanpete in order. Their championship clinching victory on Saturday was their fourth win of the day.
With the latest state crown, the Cowgirls have now won the last three 3A state titles.
