SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz announced some movement in their front office with the promotions of Dennis Lindsey to executive vice president of basketball operations and Justin Zanik to general manager.

In his new role, Lindsey will “provide executive leadership for Jazz basketball operations,” while Zanik will “be responsible for the day-to-day operations,” said Jazz president Steve Starks in a press release statement.

Lindsey has served as the general manager for the Jazz for the last seven seasons. His accomplishments include the acquisitions of Jazz cornerstones Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell via draft day trades, building teams that have made it to the playoffs for the last three seasons and finishing as the runner-up for the NBA Executive of the Year award in 2018.

“The Jazz are a tremendous organization and I am thankful to the Miller family for leading an organization that I aspire to work with for years to come,” Lindsey said. “Our entire basketball operations and coaching staff are a terrific group who are all focused on the same goal. Justin is extremely talented and an even better person. We have enjoyed working closely together and I look forward to continuing our partnership.”

Zanik has just wrapped up his fifth year with the Jazz as Lindsey’s assistant general manager. He started with Utah in 2013 after working as a player agent for 10 years. He left the team briefly to work for the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2016-17 season before coming back to Utah.

“I am honored for the opportunity to work in this uniquely collaborative environment with the coaching staff, players, front office and business operations. A camaraderie exists across the organization that makes this franchise special. My family and I are grateful to the Miller family, Dennis, Quin (Snyder) and Steve for their confidence and trust, and I look forward to helping us bring the Jazz the success our fans so deserve,” Zanik said.

This last season, the Jazz finished the regular season with a 50-32 record and were dismissed in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Houston Rockets. Heading into the offseason, it is believed that the Jazz may be aggressive in their pursuit of improving the team. Lindsey and Zanik will be spearheading the team’s approach this summer.
