BYU Basketball Signs Three New Players

PROVO, Utah – Newly hired BYU head men’s basketball coach Mark Pope will continue to bring some new blood into the program.

The program announced the transfer of former UVU players Richard Harward and Wyatt Lowell as well as the signing of American Fork High School prospect Trey Stewart. All three have signed financial aid agreements to play for the Cougars.

Harward and Lowell will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules. Stewart will join the team after serving a two-year mission to England for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following his high school graduation.

After prepping at Orem High, Harward was a key member of Pope’s squad at UVU. Last season, the 6’11” big man averaged 6.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Lowell earned the WAC’s Freshman of the Year award last season after leading the league’s first-year players in scoring, rebounding and steals during league play. He will have three seasons eligibility remaining.

Stewart was slated to play for Pope at UVU, but the coach’s career change prompted the change in plans for the American Fork star. While leading the Cavemen to the 6A Utah state championship, he averaged 14.8 points and 3.7 assists per game.
