Utah State, led by head coach Craig Smith, enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history last year. The Aggies captured the Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament championship and were given their highest seed ever in the NCAA Tournament. As an 8-seed, they were dismissed by 9-seed Washington in the first round of the tournament.
Last season’s conference player of the year, Sam Merrill is slated to return for his senior year with the Aggies. Neemias Queta, who won conference freshman and defensive player of the year, has announced his desire to pursue an NBA draft evaluation, but could still return to the program if he decides to not go pro this summer.
