MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Former BYU center Yoeli Childs has scheduled his first publically-known opportunity to work out for an NBA team.
It has been reported that Childs will work out for the Memphis Grizzlies sometime in the near future, no date was announced.
Childs announced his decision to enter the NBA Draft one day after longtime BYU head coach Dave Rose stepped down from his position after 14 years as the Cougars’ head coach.

Technically, Childs could return to BYU if he doesn’t feel comfortable with his NBA evaluation but it is not believed that he would choose to do so.
Childs also starred at Bingham High before coming to BYU. He averaged nearly a double-double in his junior year with the Cougars with 21.2 points per game to go along with 9.7 assists.

The center’s decision to leave BYU early marked the third straight season that the Cougars’ leading scorer had left with some college eligibility remaining. Elijah Bryant left the program after the 2017-18 season and Eric Mika departed after the 2016-17 season. Neither of the previous two were drafted into the NBA.
Childs is not yet projected to be an NBA draft pick by most experts. He was not invited to the NBA Draft Combine.
