Beckerman, Rimando To Miss RSL’s Match Against Portland

SANDY, Utah – For the first time in quite a while, both of RSL’s most well-known players were ruled out of the lineup for a regular season match.
Due to injuries and the need to rest, both Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando were not listed among the starters or even among the reserves for RSL’s match against the Portland Timbers.
Midfielder Kyle Beckerman was held out of the contest against Portland on Saturday after taking what head coach Mike Petke called a “pro day,” missing the team’s training session on Friday. RSL’s Twitter account reported minutes before kickoff that Beckerman was experiencing tightness in his hamstring and was being held out as a precaution. It was his first scratch since Oct. 18, 2018.

Goalkeeper Nick Rimando also missed his third straight game as he continues to work his way back from a knee injury. Prior to the start of the season, Rimando announced that this year would be his final as a professional. The legendary keeper has been a mainstay for the club since being acquired from D.C. United in 2006.
Andrew Putna got the start in goal for Rimando while Nick Besler took Beckerman’s usual place in the midfield.
Real Salt Lake matches can be streamed live on KSLSports.com or on the KSL TV app.
