Southern Utah, Utah Valley Agree To Basketball Matchup In December

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah and Utah Valley University announced that their men’s basketball teams will face each other on December 7 at American First Event Center in Cedar City, Utah.
It will mark just the third time that the two teams will face each other in their school history. The first meeting was in 2014, where UVU beat the Thunderbirds by 10 points on the road. SUU won the return matchup in Orem, Utah by 14 points.
Southern Utah is coming off of a great season, where they went 17-17 overall and picked up the most wins since joining the Big Sky Conference with 9.
They lost in the second round of the CIT to CSU Bakersfield.
Utah Valley will have a lot of new faces next season. They lost head coach Mark Pope, who became the head coach at BYU. The Wolverines hired Mark Madsen to take over the program. UVU also lost Jake Toolson, Richard Harward and Wyatt Lowell as the trio transferred from the program.
They finished the 2018-19 season with a 25-10 record and lost in the second round of the CBI.
