ORLANDO, Fla. – Utah Royals FC is off to a great start to the 2019 season after they picked up a 1-0 victory on the road against the Orlando Pride.
Christen Press scored the only goal in the match in the 19th minute on a fantastic shot at the top of the 18-yard box. The Royals built on their 1-0 win over the Washington Spirit last week in their season opener at home in front of over 18,000 fans at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The Royals out-shot the Pride 17 to 15, including 6 shots to 4 on goal. The Pride committed 12 fouls and picked up 2 yellow cards, while Utah had 8 fouls and 1 yellow card. The Royals completed 78 percent of their 456 passes and had possession 55 percent of the time.
Press scored the second goal of the season for the Royals, with Lo’eau LaBonta scoring the first goal of the season last week against Washington.
