NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The Seattle Seahawks must have a thing for Utah defensive players.
In the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Seahawks picked former Ute linebacker Cody Barton with the 88th overall selection.
Barton joins former Utah teammate Marquise Blair as part of a retooled Seattle defense. Blair was selected by the Seahawks with the 47th overall pick in the second round.

The two Utes, Barton and Blair, join former BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki, who was taken by the Cleveland Browns a little bit earlier in the third round, as the three first draft picks from the state of Utah.

A rangy and physical linebacker, Barton was named as an honorable mention selection on the 2018 All-Pac-12 team. He and fellow linebacker Chase Hansen formed what many considered to be one of the top linebacking duos in the country and perhaps in Utah football history.
Barton also starred at Brighton High prior to his playing days at Utah.
