SANDY, Utah – The Real Salt Lake family of teams enjoyed a terrific weekend with all three squad; Real Salt Lake, Real Monarchs and the Utah Royals picking up wins in the same weekend for the first time.
It was the first time in the organization’s history that it scored nine collective points in the standings.
The previous best was a 7-point weekend in August 2018, according to Trey Fitz-Gerald, a former member of RSL’s front office.

The weekend began on Friday with Real Salt Lake’s 3-0 victory on the road to first-year team FC Cincinnati. The action in Ohio was highlighted by a brace by Albert Rusnak, who scored two goals after dislocating his finger midway through the first half. RSL also picked up the shutout win without the services of goalkeeper Nick Rimando, who was kept out in a precautionary measure.

The next day, the Monarchs picked up their first victory since 2016 over San Antonio FC with a thrilling 3-2 comeback decision. The Monarchs scored three straight goals in the second half by Maikel Chang, Jack Blake and Kyle Coffee to pick up the victory.
To cap off the weekend, the Utah Royals began their second season ever with a 1-0 victory over the Washington Spirit. Utah’s Lo’eau LaBonta scored the lone goal of the game thanks to a nugmeg-pass by Christen Press early in the action. In the season-opening game, the Royals actually outdrew the attendance from RSL’s game against Orlando City SC the week before.
