SANDY, Utah – The Utah Royals FC began its season on the right note with an impressive goal to take a 1-0 lead over the Washington Spirit.
The goal was scored by midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta who received the ball after a sweet nugmeg-pass by Christen Press in the 10th minute.
Playing in their second second, the Utah Royals were an exciting addition of entertainment to Utah sports fans. Their inaugural game in 2018 was named the Sporting Event of the Year at the Governor’s State of Sports Awards.

Royals head coach Laura Harvey recently appeared on KSL Sports’ Mike Petke Show to talk about the equal treatment her team enjoys as part of the Real Salt Lake team umbrella.
