CINCINNATI, Ohio – Real Salt Lake midfielder Albert Rusnak was in serious pain after suffering a gruesome finger injury midway through the first half of his team’s match against FC Cincinnati.

Minutes later, he was in complete elation after scoring the first goal of the game.

In the 36th minute, Rusnak hit the turf hard after jockeying for positon with an opponent. As he picked himself up from the turf at Nippert Stadium, he looked down at his hand to see that his ring finger was completely out of place.

He left the pitch to receive medical attention and have his finger taped up in a splint. He returned to the field and just six minutes after going down with the injury, gave his team a 1-0 lead by scoring on a rebounded shot by Jefferson Savarino.

The goal was Rusnak’s third of the season and arguably the most gutsy of his career.

The match can be streamed live on KSLSports.com and the KSL TV app.
