SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fox Soccer Analyst Alexi Lalas made a trip to Utah to speak at the Governor’s State of Sport Awards, while he was in the Beehive State, he took his first tour around the Real Salt Lake state-of-the-art facility in Herriman.
“I have been coming to Salt Lake for many, many years and I have watched this team [Real Salt Lake] grow, I have watched this city grow and have watched this culture grow,” Lalas said to KSL Sports’ Tom Hackett. “It’s not just about a building, it’s changing the face of soccer in this area,” he added about the Herriman facility.
Lalas was very impressed with the RSL Academy that also includes a top-notch training facility for Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC and the Real Monarchs.
I don't want to hear a @realsaltlake player complain about anything…ever. #GrumpyOldGuy #RSL pic.twitter.com/dZusfTG6zU

“I have been around the world,” Lalas said. “This isn’t just living up to others, this is surpassing others. There are teams all over the world that would kill or die to have the facilities that [RSL Owner] Dell Loy Hansen has paid for here,” he said.
The $78 million academy complex and training facility opened in February of 2018.
“I was completely blown away by what I saw here [at the academy],” Lalas stated. “If you are in this area or market, you are incredibly fortunate to have this and it’s only going to get bigger,” he added.
Had an absolute blast sitting down and chatting with @MLS Commisioner Don Garber as well as Fox Sports soccer analyst @AlexiLalas! Thanks for setting this up @realsaltlake and @nmdowdle.
