HOUSTON, Texas – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is set to wear his Adidas signature sneaker on-court for the first time in Game 1 of Utah’s first round playoffs series against the Houston Rockets.
The sneaker, known as the D.O.N. Issue #1, was unveiled on Dec. 27th but Sunday’s playoff game will be the first time the Mitchell will wear the Adidas-branded shoe in a game.
The red and blue colorway that Mitchell is expected to wear on Sunday is mirrors the colors of the comic superhero, Spider-Man’s suit, fitting for player known as “Spida.” The D.O.N. name, while obviously a connection to Mitchell’s first name, also stands for Determination Over Negativity, reflective of the Jazz superstar’s positive attitude.

“My message with this shoe is that it’s for kids not only your age, but younger than you guys, older than you guys, just (for those who) believe that they can do anything,” Donovan Mitchell said at the unveiling of the shoe in December. “I want my story to be told as such — this was so unexpected for me.
The D.O.N. Issue #1 will release on July 5th as a special tie-in with the latest Spider-Man movie. The price of the shoe is anticipated to be $100.
Game 1 of the Western Conference playoffs between Utah and Houston will tip off Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast on TNT.
