SANDY, Utah – Making just his second start ever at striker for Real Salt Lake, Sam Johnson found the back of the net in the 17th minute.
Johnson’s goal put RSL up 1-0 early against Orlando City SC.
The Liberian born striker took a slick pass into the box but slipped and fell on first contact with the ball. He was able to quickly arise, split two defenders and power a strong left-footed kick past Orlando goalkeeper Brian Rowe.

RSL came into the game on a four game losing streak and were struggling to create offense, especially early in matches. Johnson’s goal, the first of his career with RSL, was critical to getting his team on the right foot early. So far this season, RSL had lost all three of its matches when conceding the first goal to the opposing team.
