SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Improvement was the theme for the Utah football team after Friday’s scrimmage and the Utes saw plenty of that on both offense and defense.
“We improved definitely from last week,” said quarterback Tyler Huntley. “As an offense, as a defense, we did pretty good.”
The coaching staff agreed with his evaluation.

“Certainly better than last week, which is what we needed to see,” said head coach Kyle Whittingham. “Overall, I think the offense took a step forward, quarterback play was very clean, offensive line did a nice job. Defensively, I’m still very confident in those guys.”
“Really, really pleased,” added defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley. “I thought we got better [today].”
While they’re happy with the progress seen today, the coaches enter the final week of fall camp putting an emphasis on not becoming complacent.
“We’re looking to finish strong,” said Scalley.

“It’s a work in progress,” added offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig. “I like the progress we’re making, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
“I thought it was an outstanding practice,” said Whittingham. “We have two more physical practices next week, then the Red and White game.”
The Red and White game takes place next Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
