BYU Forward Yoeli Childs Declares For NBA Draft

PROVO, Utah – BYU junior forward Yoeli Childs announced on Twitter, that he will declare of the NBA Draft and skip his senior season.
This comes one day after head coach Dave Rose decided to retire after 14 years at the helm and 22 years with the program.
Childs led the team in scoring with 21.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game this season. He was a semifinalist for the Karl Malone award that is given to the best power forward in college basketball.
The Bingham High School product posted on Twitter that he is grateful for the three seasons with the Cougars. He mentioned the fans and coaching staff as well.
“The time has come for a new chapter in my life. I will be declaring for this years NBA Draft with intent to hire an agent,” Childs said on social media.
Childs recorded 17 double-doubles this season, which is tied for 15th best in Division I college basketball.

Most Mock Drafts that have been posted before the NBA Draft in June does not include Childs getting selected in the two rounds. Childs will likely have to get on a summer league roster and impress or work his way to the NBA through the G-League or overseas.
The Cougars finished with a 19-13 record and did not participate in a postseason tournament after a disappointing 80-57 loss to San Diego in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament.
