LAFC Remains On Top After Slow Week In MLS

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Due to international break, only 5 MLS games occurred. FC Dallas beat the Colorado Rapids at home thanks to a late Ryan Hollingshead goal.

The Philadelphia Union picked up their first three points of the season as they were able to get the better of the Columbus Crew 3-0.

MLS newcomers FC Cincinnati recorded their first back to back victories, this week over last place New England Revolution.

Locally, Real Salt Lake lost 2-1 to the LAFC away from home in grueling fashion. A 92nd goal from LAFC center back Walker Zimmerman sealed the three points for the home team. Real Salt Lake currently sit in 8th spot in the Western Conference.

Result: 2-1 win against Real Salt Lake at home.

Recap: A less than convincing win at home for the Black and Gold. Walker Zimmerman scored in the 92nd minute to give the hosts 3 points.

Recap: Back to back victories for the MLS newcomers. FC Cincinnati are in a rare patch of form and are currently sitting in 2nd spot in the Eastern Conference.

Result: 2-1 win at home against Colorado Rapids

Recap: A late Ryan Hollingshead goal in the 82nd minute gave Dallas the late lead as they were able to beat a much improved Rapids outfit.

Recap: A very valuable road point against a good team in the New York Red Bulls. Sacha Klijestan scored the only goal in the 73rd minute.

12. Columbus Crew (2-1-1, 7 Points)

Result: 3-0 loss at Philadelphia Union.

Recap: Columbus Crew conceded three goals between the 31st minute and the 48th minute. The Union made the most of the home crowd as the Crew suffered their first loss of the season.

13. Real Salt Lake (1-1-2, 4 Points)

Result: 2-1 loss at LAFC.

Recap: RSL were very close to escaping Banc of California Stadium with a point. However, a late red card to debutant Justin Portillo ended up costing the away side a point when LAFC center back Walker Zimmerman struck a worldie from 25 yards in the 92nd minute to give the home team 3 points.

Recap: A disappointing home loss to Orlando City. Despite having more shots on goal the Red Bulls were unable to capitalize in the loss.

Result: 3-0 win at home against Columbus Crew

Recap: The Union were able to pick up their first 3 points of the season. A 20 minute stretch between the 31st and 48th minutes, the Union put three in the back of the onion bag to solidify a more than convincing win over a very impressive Columbus Crew team.
