Weber State Advances To Big Sky Semifinals With Win Over Portland State

BOISE, Idaho – The Weber State Wildcats advanced to the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament with an 81-71 win over Portland State.
Jerrick Harding poured in a game-high 23 points, Cody John chipped in 17 points and Brekkott Chapman added 12 points and 8 rebounds.
For Portland State, Holland Woods led the team with 19 points, while Jamie Orme contributed 15 points and 8 rebounds. They were the only two Vikings players to reach double figures.
Weber State won the game despite being dominated on the boards 52-34, but they shot 46 percent from the field.
Tightly Contested First Half
Weber State trailed by six early before they started to make shots and had a 24-19 lead with 7 minutes left in the first half.
With four minutes left in the first half, the Wildcats had their largest lead to that point when they were up 31-24.
Portland State ended the first half on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 34.
Harding’s 14 points and Chapman’s 9 points combined for 23 of their 34 points.

Wildcats Pull Away In Second Half
Weber State had a great start to the second half with a 12-2 run and Portland State scored four points before going on a scoring drought for over three minutes.
From that point, the Wildcats made six of their next eight field goals, while PSU was one for their last seven from the field.
The Wildcats were able to cruise to the win after outscoring the Vikings 47-37 in the second half.

Weber State advanced to the Semifinal round of the Big Sky Tournament. They will face No. 1 Montana on Friday at 5:30 p.m. on Pluto TV channel 230.
The Wildcats lost both games against the Grizzlies during the regular season.
