SUU’s Cameron Oluyitan Named Big Sky Newcomer Of The Year

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Big Sky Conference unveiled their individual and all-conference awards, following the regular season.
Southern Utah redshirt junior forward Cameron Oluyitan has been named Co-Newcomer of the Year and was also named third team All-Conference.
Oluyitan finished the regular season, averaging 12.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
The Boise State transfer finished his first season with the Thunderbirds and made a splash right away in Cedar City, Utah.
He is the fourth Thunderbird to be recognized by the Big Sky Conference along with Jackson Stevenett in 2012-13, Damon Heuir the same season and Randy Onwuasor in 2016-17, who also won the Newcomer of the Year.
Oluyitan claimed the first Big Sky Player of the Week award of the season when he averaged 17 points per game in the first two games of conference play. He led the team in steals, while finishing second in assists.
He won his second Player of the Week award on December 18.
Southern Utah is the No. 7-seed in the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Boise, Idaho. They will face No. 10-seed Idaho State on Wednesday at approximately noon on Pluto TV.
