Cougars Upset No. 3 UC Irvine In Four Sets

PROVO, Utah – The BYU volleyball team came up with a huge win as the No. 10-ranked Cougars picked up an upset victory over No. 3 UC Irvine.
The Anteaters picked up the first set in the match with a 25-20 victory.
From there, however it was all-BYU as the Cougars won the next three sets to claim the match victory.

After winning the second set, 25-17, the Cougars outlasted UC Irvine in a match that went all the way to a 32-30 decision.
The Cougars clinched the victory with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.
By The Numbers
Gabi Garci Fernande and Davide Gardini were a two-man show for the Cougars, combining for 44 of BYU’s 55 kills. The two also had 7 digs apiece.
Joel Schneidmiller led the Anteaters with 23 kills.

The Cougars will host the Anteaters again on Saturday at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast on BYUtv.
