Mesa, AZ – Former BYU baseball star and current Chicago Cubs prospect Jacob Hannemann may have had the play of the day in Spring Training.
No, the former third round pick didn’t hit a home run, or make a diving catch, instead this play came when he threw a ball to a lucky fan sitting in the stands – the lucky fan happened to be his son.
Here's the most adorable thing you'll see today.

Currently assigned to the Triple -A Iowa Cubs, Hannemann is trying to make a name for himself in the big league Cubs’ clubhouse. He entered Wednesday’s game in the sixth inning, and after warming up in center field, threw a ball to his son who was sitting on the berm with his grandpa. Hannemann’s son reacted with a, “Thank you Dad!” after receiving the souvenir.
After a stellar freshman season at BYU for which he was named a freshman All-American, Hannemann was drafted in the third round by the Cubs in 2013.
He made his Major League debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2017 after being waived by the Cubs. The Mariners subsequently released him after about a month of MLB service. He was then re-claimed off waivers by Chicago.
