RSL Given Two Yellow Cards Early Against Houston

HOUSTON, Texas – Just 14 minutes into the season-opening game against the Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake had already received two yellow cards.
Everton Luiz didn’t take long to put himself in the books in his RSL debut.
Just 10 minutes into the season-opening match against Houston, Luiz was given a yellow card by the officials after a hard tackle on Houston’s star forward, Mauro Manotas.

Known for an aggressive, hard-nosed style, Luiz joined RSL on loan from the Italian club, SPAL.
A few minutes later, RSL captain Kyle Beckerman was shown the yellow card by referee after stepping on Tomas Martinez’s foot late in the play.

Last season, RSL had 55 yellow cards as team, led by Beckerman, who had 8. RSL went without receiving a red card last season.
