Rimando Announces Retirement After 2019 Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando announced on his Twitter page that the 2019 season will be his final year as a professional soccer player.
Rimando has played 19 season in Major League Soccer and has been a franchise cornerstone for RSL since 2007. He is the league’s all-time leader in career shutouts, wins, saves and appearances.
In the tweet, Rimando confirmed that his 20th season would be his swansong.
“My 20th season will be my last. It’s time for me to step away & start my next adventure,” read the tweet sent from Rimando’s official page.

The tweet continued as Rimando thanked his coaches, family and teammates their support during his legendary career.
“As always I’m looking forward to competing & giving everything I can to the club & RSL’s supporters, let’s make this final go around the most memorable,” concluded the message from Rimando.
RSL will begin its 2019 campaign on Saturday with a preseason road match against the Houston Dynamo. The game will kick off at 4 p.m and be available on the KSL TV app.
