Cougars Win In Dramatic Ending Over Stanford

PROVO, Utah – The No. 9-ranked BYU volleyball team has seen plenty of ups and downs this season. The 3-2 win over No. 8-ranked Stanford will definitely go down as an “up.”
The two top-10 teams took turns winning games back-and-forth throughout the match. In the final and decisive fifth game, the Cougars edged the Cardinal with 17-15 victory to take the match victory.
Tied up at 14-all in the fifth game, the Cougars surrendered the advantage to the Cardinal thanks to a kill by Stanford’s Kyler Presho.
Down 15-14 and facing game point, BYU rallied by scoring three straight points to win the match.

The dramatic finish began with a kill by Gabi Garcia Fernande to tie it up at 15-all.
Fernande then set up David Gardini for a kill to turn the tables and take the lead at 16-15.
Finally, the win was capped off by attacking error by Stanford’s Jaylen Jasper to give BYU the win.

Next Up
BYU will take on Stanford again, on the road however, on Saturday. The match will begin at 7 p.m and be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
