INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Former Weber State offensive lineman Iosua Opeta turned heads at the 2019 NFL Combine by putting up 39 reps on the bench press.
The impressive showing was the top number at this year’s event by a long ways. Alex Barnes from Kansas State and Garrett Bradbury from N.C. State put the next highest number of reps with 34 with the 225-pound bar.
Opeta’s mark was also the second highest among offensive lineman in Combine history. Michigan’s David Molk holds the record with 41 reps in 2012.

A native of Stansbury Park, Opeta was honored as a FCS All-American twice and was also a three-time selection to the All-Big Sky team. He was the lone Weber State representative at this year’s NFL Combine.
His draft rating on NFL.com gives him a 50-50 chance of making an NFL team. That should surely improve after a strong performance on the bench press.
