Southern Utah Picks Up Win Over Eastern Washington

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The SUU Thunderbirds moved back to .500 in Big Sky conference play with a 76-62 victory over Eastern Washington.
The victory came as revenge for the Thunderbirds, who had lost to the Eagles 82-79 on February 2. The win also snapped a two-game losing streak for SUU.

SUU started the game hot racing out to an 8-0 lead. The Eagles caught the Thunderbirds at 12-all and played back and forth until Dre Marin’s 3-pointer with 5:11 remaining in the first half gave SUU a 27-24.
The Thunderbirds led by three at halftime but quickly relented the advantage at 34-33 on a layup by Jesse Hunt. Jacob Callaway took the lead back on a triple and that Thunderbirds would not let up the lead again in the 14-point victory.

Four Thunderbirds finished the game with double figure scoring. Marin led the way with 20 points and five 3-pointers made.

Hunt turned in 19 points for the Eagles in a losing effort.
