Feb 21, 2019, 9:26 PM
PROVO, Utah – The BYU Cougars suffered what could be huge blow to their postseason outlook with a 77-71 loss to San Francisco.
The Cougars lost the game after leading by as much as 14 in the second half. Had BYU won, it would have been head coach Dave Rose’s 200th win in the Marriott Center.
TJ Haws’ 3-pointer with 8:14 remaining in the game gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the game at 14.
The Dons immediately responded with a 10-0 run capped off by a layup by Charles Minlend to cut the BYU advantage to just four with 4:13 left in the game.

Haws’ triple was the last made field of game by the Cougars, they suffered several turnovers and gave San Francisco the opportunity to steal a big game in Provo. The Dons took advantage and the Cougars paid dearly.
The loss also puts Rose’s streak of 13-straight 20-win seasons in jeopardy. Sitting at 18-10 overall, the Cougars have just two games remaining. One of those games is against No. 2-ranked Gonzaga. The Cougars will next to pull off an upset to keep Rose’s record intact.
