Golf Community Rallies Around Fairways Magazine After Fire

PROVO, Utah – The Provo fire that brought down the Los Hermanos restaurant also had a devastating effect on a precious collection of Utah’s golf history.
As a result of the flames that engulfed Los Hermanos on February 11, the offices to Fairways Magazine, which were located just above the restaurant, were destroyed.
While thankfully, no one was injured, a large portion of Utah’s history with the game has likely been lost with the publication’s archives being ruined due to fire and water damage.
In an effort to lend a helping hand, Impact Golf Center in Draper is hosting an event to gather donations to help the magazine and its owner, Randy Dodson.
“The golf community here is tight and it’s small so word spreads pretty fast so when we heard about Fairways, we already the event planned so we said let’s try to piggy-back on the success we’ve had with (previous) events and figure out some ways to help Randy out,” said Derek Fox, who owns the Impact Golf Center.
Impact will host an open house to watch the Utah Jazz game on Thursday with its golf simulators free to the public. A donation jar will be present at the building to gather funds from those who would like to help Fairways in its time of need.
A Go Fund Me account has also been set up to further gather donations for Fairways. The link is available here.
“Anybody that’s been in golf or been serious about golf has been touched by Randy Dodson and Fairways Magazine in one way or another. Anything we can do to help, we’ll do to help,” said Fox.
