TUSCON, Ariz. –Ā After a dominant first half that included a spectacular Bofo Saucedo strike from 16 yards away in the 22nd minute that put the Claret and Cobalt in the lead, they allowed two goals to fall to FC Dallas 2-1 in preseason action.
RSL did a sensational job of controlling the pace of the game throughout the first 45 minutes. They looked fresh and composed throughout the first 45 minutes.
That changed however in the second half. It was a barrage of attacks from FC Dallas that got the better of RSL as they conceded two goals in the space of 4 minutes. A breakdown in the defensive line made life easy for Jesus Ferreira to slot the ball in the bottom right hand corner past Nick Rimando and then a questionable challenge from Tony Beltran in the box gifted Santiago Mosquera the lead in the 60th min.

Five Takeaways
- RSL used the preseason game as an opportunity to get some younger players some time on the pitch. Justin Portillo and Kyle Coffee both played significant minutes. Minutes they will not get by the time the MLS season comes around.
- Albert Rusnak, Damir Kreilach, Cory Baird, Sam Johnson, Kyle Beckerman and Marcelo Silva did not see the pitch. The āspineā of the team was not playing.
- The first 45 minutes was promising as RSL controlled possession and the pace of the game.
- The second half was a concern, the players looked like they ran out of juice. FC Dallas kicked themselves into gear and RSL could not stop them. The midfield didn’t seem to offer any help to the back four.
- It was good to see Tony Beltran and Luke Mullholland running around in a Real Salt Lake uniform. This sight will not get old for RSL fans this season. Beltran is coming off a 16 month stint on the sideline after a horrific knee injury in October of 2017 and Mullholland saw very little MLS action in 2018 due to ongoing back issues.
Real Salt Lake will wrap up preseason action on Saturday at 5 p.m. against the Portland Timbers on the KSL Sports app.
