BYU Finishes Game Strong To Beat LMU For Fifth Straight Win

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The BYU Cougars turned it on at the end of the second half to come away with a 70-62 victory over Loyola Marymount.
Trailing most of the game, the Cougars tied up the Lions at 58-all with four and a half minutes remaining on a Gavin Baxter.
From there, the Cougars ended the game on a 12-4 run to get their second win of the season over LMU.
BYU held LMU without a made field goal for the last nine minutes of the game.

Poor Start, Excellent Finish For BYU
The game started poorly for BYU, but the Cougars played a much improved second half to get the win.
Holding onto the ball was an issue for BYU early on as the Cougars had 10 turnovers which went the other way for 14 points by Loyola Marymount.
The Lions had a 12-point lead with two and a half minutes remaining in the first half, their largest lead of the game. BYU managed to cut the lead to just six as the Lions took a 36-30 lead at halftime.

The second half, especially the final five minutes, belonged to BYU as the Cougars extended their winning streak to five.
The win moved the Cougars to 18-10 overall and 10-3 in WCC conference play.
By The Numbers
Yoeli Childs led the Cougars with 18 points.
TJ Haws, who was coming off a career game against San Diego, struggled from the field, going 2-for-11. He did knock down all of his nine free throw attempts to finish with 13 points.
James Batemon led the Lions with 16 points.

The Cougars will try to push their winning streak to six when they host San Francisco on Thursday. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on BYUtv.
