CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pair of Utah’s favorite NBA players shined in the Rising Stars Challenge as part of NBA All-Star Weekend.

Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, and former Utah Ute Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers showcased their abilities in the game featuring the top first and second year players in the league.

Kuzma scored a game-high 35 points and was named the game’s MVP.

Mitchell added a 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting with three 3-pointers made.

The USA team defeated the World squad, 161-144.

The game was mostly controlled by Mitchell and Kuzma’s USA squad, although the World team did have its fair share of highlight reel moments.

Both Mitchell and Kuzma will continue their participation in All-Star Weekend on Saturday night.

Kuzma will be participating in the Skills Competition while Mitchell will join the TNT broadcast booth to help commentate on the action during the Dunk Contest.
