SLCC Takes Down USU-E At Home

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – The SLCC Bruins grinded out a 68-60 victory over Utah State Eastern.
The win helped SLCC advance to 18-7 while USU-E fell to 16-11 on the season.
After the game was tied at 11-all early, SLCC busted open a 10-0 run to take a 21-11 lead with five and a half minutes remaining.
USU-E didn’t lie down however, and worked to tie the game up at 28-all at the halftime break.
SLCC’s Daron Henson had half of his team’s points in the first half with 14. He also drained three 3-pointers.
He would only score two more points in the second half, but was still SLCC’s high scorer in the win.
The two teams played back and forth basketball to start the second half. With the game tied at 54-all with three minutes remaining, SLCC’s Tyler Bennett drained a 3-pointer to put the Bruins up 57-54.
They would not look back on their way to the 8-point win.
Key Stats
Despite the loss, Nield dropped a game-high 25 points with four 3-pointer made.
Matt Lindsey had 13 points to contribute to the Bruins’ winning effort while Hunter Schofield chipped in 12.
Next Up
SLCC will travel to face College of Southern Idaho on Thursday.
USU-E will take on Snow College on Thursday as well.
