Red Rocks Stay Undefeated With Win Over Cal

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 4-ranked Utah women’s gymnastics team is off to such a hot start that even co-head coach Tom Farden is left amazed.
“Six in a row to start the season,” marveled Farden. “This team is making history in what is probably the most historical gymnastics program in the country.”
The Red Rocks picked up their sixth win of the season with a 197.150-196.225 victory over the No. 14-ranked Cal Bears.

MaKenna Merrell-Giles won her second all-around title of the season with season-high tying score of 39.350. Her teammate, Kari Lee took second place with a 39.350 while star junior MyKayla Skinner was out of contention for the all-around after sitting out the floor exercise.

“MaKenna was in her element today,” said Farden. “Obviously she is a matinee woman. Her demeanor was great and she is leading this team by example and as a captain.”
