TEMPE, Ariz. – The Red Rocks kept it rolling with their fourth straight win to start the 2019 season with a 197.375-195.825 victory over Arizona State.

The score against the Sun Devils was the Utes’ best score of the season so far.

Star gymnast McKayla Skinner picked up the all-around win as well as the victory in the beams event while tying for first on the bars with teammate Missy Reinstadtler.

At first co-head coach Tom Farden was considering not having Skinner compete in the floor event. However, the Ute All-American was able to persuade her coach into letting her go for the all-around title.

“We want to give MyKayla a needed rest, but she is just a competitor,” said Farden. “We’re getting a lot of kids experience in competition, which combined with three straight road meets, is going to help us in the end since the entire postseason is on the road.”

The Utes swept all four events as a teams and had a Red Rock on the top of the podium in all but one event.

The Red Rocks will return home to host Arizona on Feb. 1.
