UVU Holds On To Defeat Fresno State, 64-60

FRESNO, Calif. – In a game that game down to the wire, the Utah Valley Wolverines edged Fresno State, 64-60.

A Close Finish
After a back and forth first 36 minutes of the game, with UVU up 59-51 with four minutes remaining, the Bulldogs went on a 8-0 run to tie the game with two minutes remaining.

A layup by TJ Washington and a made free throw by Isaiah White put UVU up by three with a little less than a minute remaining.
Fresno State’s Braxton Huggins hit a free throw to cut UVU’s lead to just 62-60 with 22 seconds remaining.
UVU inbounded the ball and broke the press to find Baylee Steele wide open down the floor for the game-sealing slam dunk.
By The Numbers
Jake Toolson led the Wolverines with 15 points.
UVU struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 17.6 percent from downtown in the win. From inside, however they fared much better, shooting 46.2 from the field overall. The Wolverines’ defense held Fresno to just 34 percent from the field.

Huggins led the game in scoring with 19 points.

UVU will next open WAC conference play with a trip to face Grand Canyon on Tuesday. The game will tip off at 6 p.m. and be broadcast on the WAC Digital Network.
