SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Sneaker heads rejoice, Donovan Mitchell now has his own signature shoe.
The Utah Jazz guard unveiled his Adidas-made signature sneaker Thursday morning. The shoe, called the D.O.N. Issue 1, was shown to the public for the first time with help from Mitchell and a pair of student reporters from Mitchell’s hometown high school, Greewich Country Day School in Connecticut.
Determination. Over. Negativity.

“My message with this shoe is that it’s for kids not only your age, but younger than you guys, older than you guys, just (for those who) believe that they can do anything,” Donovan Mitchell told the student reporters Rory Ashmeade and Blaise New. “I want my story to be told as such — this was so unexpected for me.
The shoe is very reflective of Mitchell’s story and personality. The colorway of the D.O.N. Issue 1 shown in the announcement mirrors the colors of comic superhero Spider-Man’s suit, based on Mitchell’s nickname, “Spida.” D.O.N. stands for Determination Over Negativity, reflective of Mitchell’s positive attitude.
The list of NBA athletes with their own signature shoes is a short one. Less than two dozen men in the league can claim to be on it.
Mitchell will be the first from the Utah Jazz.

The price and release date of the shoe were not made part of the announcement.
