“We started from the tip,” said Donovan Mitchell. “We tried to be the aggressor. Last time we played them we came out strong and kind of let up the lead so the biggest thing was staying focused and locked in on defense and everything took care of itself.”
Jazz Go Wire-To-Wire
The Jazz came out of the gates hot on a 13-0 early lead. Joe Ingles quickly made Jazz history by hitting his 541th 3-pointer in a Jazz uniform which moved him into third place on the team’s all-time leaderboard. At the end of the opening period, the Jazz shot a colossal 68.4 percent in the quarter while holding the Heat to just 29.4 percent and took a 40-15 lead into the second.
The Jazz’s scoring slowed down in the second but they still took a 60-33 lead into the halftime break.
Utah continued to dominate in the third and rolled in the fourth to the easy win over the Eastern Conference foe. At one point, the Jazz built a 42 point lead on the Heat.
By The Numbers
Mitchell led the Jazz with 21 points. Rudy Gobert turned in a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Korver had a terrific game with 16 points on four 3-pointers made in just 16 minutes.
Rodney McGruder led the Heat with 16 points while Wade finished with six points in 18 minutes.
