“This is a tremendous opportunity for our program. It is a fantastic reward for all of the hard work and dedication that our players have put in, from all the offseason workouts, to watching film to the practice field. I am so happy for them,” said Utah State interim head coach Frank Maile. “We are excited to represent Utah State University, Cache Valley and Aggie Nation at the New Mexico Bowl.”
This will be Utah State’s seventh bowl game in the past eight seasons and the 13th in school history. The Aggies are 4-8 all-time in bowl games.
Utah State will play in the New Mexico Bowl for the second time in school history. Last time was in 2014 when the Aggies beat UTEP 21-6.
The 10-2 Aggies will go head-to-head with 9-3 North Texas in the bowl game. The Mean Green finished second in the Conference USA West division after a 5-3 conference record.
