In the first meeting in the postseason between the two teams, the Cougars were just too much as they made quick work of the Utes in the match.
Thanks to a 7-0 run to go up 17-11 in the first set, BYU took the early lead. The second set was the closest of the match with BYU winning 25-21 before the Cougars closed it out and moved on in the tournament.
Sad our season had to come to an end, but we we worked every day to get better! Already can’t wait for next year. pic.twitter.com/9qgD2hN9YM

“It was a tough loss,” Utah head coach Beth Launiere said. “We had the kind of season, as of late, where we really didn’t want it to end. We’ve had such a nice run here at the end and we’ve been playing such great volleyball, doing a lot of winning, just a great team chemistry. From that perspective, I didn’t want it to come to an end. Unfortunately, we came up against a really good BYU team tonight.”
The Cougars will move on to face Florida on Friday. Match time has yet to be announced.
