The game was slow for both teams in the first half. Utah missed nine of its first 11 shots while the Golden Hurricane missed all 15 shots from long range in the opening 20 minutes. At the half, it was a low scoring affair with Utah holding a 23-17 advantage.
Both teams picked it up in the second half as they both scored over 45 points, Tulsa with 47, Utah with 46. The Golden Hurricane were kept in check however and never really made too close as the Utes held on for the win.
Tulsa was doomed by a horrific night from beyond the arc. After the miserable first half, they managed to go just 5-for-30 total from 3-point land for a paltry 16.7 percent. Utah shot a decent 37 percent from distance.
Both Gach and Sedrick Barefield both turned in 15 points apiece for the Utes while Jayce Johnson contributed a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double.
