Matt Wells Headlines School Record 18 Conference Honors

LOGAN, Utah – The Mountain West Conference announced their end of season awards and Utah State head coach Matt Wells was named the Conference Coach of the Year.

Utah State had a school-record 18 players receive honors from the Mountain West Conference.
Wells has been named the Conferences’ Coach of the Year twice with the first time being in 2013. He is the first coach in school history to receive the award multiple times. The Aggies have had five head coaches receive the award.
All-Mountain West First And Second Teams
The Aggies had two player named to the first team in senior offensive lineman Quin Ficklin and sophomore return specialist Savon Scarver.

Quarterback Jordan Love, running back Darwin Thompson and offensive lineman Roman Andrus were named to the offensive second team.

Linebackers Tipa Galeai and David Woodward as well as defensive back Jontrell Rocquemore were selected to the defensive second team.

Honorable Mentions
Utah State had 10 players named as honorable mentions, four offensive players, five on defense and one on special teams.
The offensive honorable mentions include wide receiver Ron’Quavion Tarver, tight end Dax Raymond, and offensive lineman Rob Castaneda and Sean Taylor.
Defensive honorable mentions include defensive linemen Adewale Adeoye, Fua Leilua, Christopher Unga Jr. and defensive backs Gaje Furguson and D.J. Williams Jr.
Utah State junior place kicker Doninik Eberle was the lone special teams player named as an honorable mention.
