BYU Wins Second Straight With Victory Over Northwestern State

PROVO, Utah – Despite another slow start, the BYU Cougars were able to handle the Northwestern State Demons 82-57 at the Marriott Center.
Yoeli Childs had another double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Dalton Nixon finished with a career-high 15 points and TJ Haws added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Ishmael Lane led the Demons with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
It was a sluggish 10 minutes to start the game, which included 10 turnovers by the Cougars. BYU ended the first 20 minutes with a 42-25 lead and shot 50 percent from the field. Their defense kept the Demons in check as they hit 32 percent of their shots on 10-of-31 attempts.
Yoeli Childs nearly had a double-double at the break with 12 points and nine rebounds.
BYU cleaned up their mistakes in the second half as they committed just five turnovers in the final 20 minutes of play. They finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field but are still struggling hitting their perimeter shots, making 7-of-22 from deep.
The Cougars improved to 2-1 on the season and will return home on Thursday to face Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. The will be broadcast on BYUtv and KSL News Radio.
