Jazz Start Five-Game Road Trip With Win Over Grizzlies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Utah Jazz started off their long five-game road trip with a 96-88 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Joe Ingles led the Jazz with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. He also received a big cut above his left eye and returned to the game late in the fourth quarter with a bandage wrapped around his forehead.
Despite foul trouble in the first half, Rudy Gobert exploded with 15 points, 16 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Derrick Favors scored 12 points and Alec Burks added 10 points off the bench.
Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 24 points and Marc Gasol added 16.
Third Time’s The Charm
After losing the first two meetings to Memphis at home, the Jazz started the third meeting on the right foot. They jumped out to a 16-6 lead before the Grizzlies tied the game.
Memphis held a three point lead at halftime before the Jazz outscored the Grizzlies 34-26 in the third quarter.
The difference in the game was at the free-throw line as Utah shot 30 times at the charity stripe compared to Memphis’ 23 attempts.
Jazz Backcourt Struggled
Donovan Mitchell and Ricky Rubio struggled offensively against the Grizzlies. Mitchell had 12 points on just 3-of-14 shooting from the field. Rubio scored seven points as he hit just three field goals in 11 attempts.

The Jazz improved to 7-6 and will make their second stop on their five-game road trip in Dallas against the Mavericks on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. on AT&T SportsNet.
