PROVO, Utah – Brigham Young University has agreed to a home-and-home series with the Arkansas Razorbacks out of the SEC in 2022 and 2023.
The Cougars will host Arkansas in the first meeting at LaVell Edwards Stadium on October 15, 2022, with BYU traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas on September 23, 2023.
“I’ve been on the beautiful campus at the University of Arkansas and seen their state-of-the-art athletic facilities,” BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe said. “It will be a road trip BYU fans will not want to miss. I look forward to the Razorbacks and Cougars battling for the first time when we host Arkansas in Provo in 2022.”
The Cougars currently have 10 games scheduled for the 2022 season including five games against teams in power five conferences – Utah, Baylor, Oregon, Arkansas, and Stanford.
In 2023, the Cougars have another five games against power five teams – Tennessee, Virginia, Arkansas, USC, and Stanford.
Since going Independent in 2011 BYU has played five games against teams from the Southeastern Conference – Mississippi, Missouri, Mississippi State, and LSU – with a 2-3 record in those games.
This is the first meeting between the two programs. Arkansas began playing football in 1894, while BYU began playing football in 1922. Both teams have won national championships with the Razorbacks winning in 1964 and BYU raising the crystal ball 20 years later in 1984.
Kickoff times and broadcast plans will be announced at a later date.
