Orem Grabs Region 10 Title With 59-26 Win Over Spanish Fork
SPANISH FORK, Utah – It took over a quarter for Orem to get going, but once they did, they rolled to a 59-26 road win over rival Spanish Fork Wednesday night. The win gives the Tigers the outright Region 10 title and the top seed in the 4A state playoffs.
Spanish Fork receiver Noah Conway reeled in a 17-yard pass from Parker Swenson to give the Dons a 6-0 lead midway through the first quarter. It was the only time that the Dons would lead as Orem went off in the second quarter, scoring 28 straight points to take the lead. The Tigers would not look back on their way to a physical win, marred by ejections of two of their players.
“I’ll be honest. You got two good teams here (that are) undefeated for a region championship and you end up with 40 penalties,” Orem head coach Jeremy Hill told the Deseret News. “It’s a little bit difficult and I don’t think any of the fans came to watch the refs throw flags.”
Orem has been dominant all season in Region 10 play and with Wednesday’s win takes the region title and will hold the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs. They’ll face Tooele at home on Oct. 26 at 4 p.m.
Spanish Fork will host Ogden in its first round playoff game on Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.
