Utes Prep For Blackout Game With Donovan Mitchell Jersey

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah Football team will battle the 10th ranked Washington Huskies on Saturday at Rice Eccles Stadium in their annual blackout game.
The Utes equipment staff is busy getting all of the uniforms ready to go for Saturday. However, they did take some time to create one for Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, who has been to a couple of Utah Football games in his short time in Salt Lake City.

Since Mitchell’s arrival last summer, when he was selected 13th overall in the first round of the NBA Draft. He has really embraced the state of Utah and spends his off-time catching a Utah, BYU, Real Salt Lake or Salt Lake Bees game.
Mitchell was at Utah’s season opener against Weber State on August 30th at Rice Eccles Stadium. He was hanging out with a former Utah Ute and current Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma.

The BYU Football team welcomed the young star to the state by giving him a shirt. He still hasn’t attended a BYU game at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

University of Utah Men’s Basketball Coach Larry Krystkowiak took advantage of having “Spida Mitchell” in town. He had the NBA rookie of the year runner-up address the Runnin’ Utes in August.

On an off-night for the Utah Jazz, Mitchell decided to go to the Jon M. Huntsman Center to watch the Utah Basketball team beat Hawaii 80-60. The MUSS gave him a Christmas sweater.
He dropped 41 points last night for the @utahjazz so we thought @spidadmitchell deserved a MUSS Holliday Sweater #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/8YmtH4LBj8

One place that Donovan Mitchell hasn’t visited is Logan. Utah State fans hope he can make it up north. The student section (the Hurd) reached out to Donovan Mitchell and Royce O’Neale and even had former Aggie and current Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner trying to recruit the Jazz duo to Maverik Stadium.
Hey @spidadmitchell how can we get you to a @USUFootball game? I’ve got gear & sideline passes ready for you & @BucketsONeale00!@Bwagz help me out & tell em about #UState!

Mitchell had an opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the Salt Lake Bees game on June 29th, shortly after Mitchell was drafted to the Utah Jazz. The Bees lost to the Reno Aces 3-2. Mitchell has a love for baseball as well as basketball. He grew up around the game and his father, Donovan Mitchell Sr. is the Director of Player Relations for the New York Mets.
.@spidadmitchell can bring some heat! Think coach Q will let you pitch in the basketball off-season? @utahjazz pic.twitter.com/8VIyRSbGr4
